hop: a browser picker for macOS

macOS has one default browser, so every link from mail, chat, the terminal or a document opens there, whether or not that is where it belongs. hop is a small Swift and SwiftUI app for that. Set it as the default browser and it catches every link you open, then either sends it straight to the right browser by your rules or shows a picker so you choose in one keystroke.

Rules and the picker

No rule matches: the picker opens, and the choice can be remembered as a new rule.

A rule matches a link by domain or path. In the picker, holding Option with a number key opens the link in a private window, in Firefox and the Chromium-based browsers. hop also keeps a history of what opened where, and imports existing rules from another picker.

Open source at github.com/munishkharb/hop. It needs macOS 13 or later and builds with swift build -c release.
